SriLankan Aviation College (SLAC),the training arm of the national carrier SriLankan Airlines isempowered by aviation training experience of 36 years.It extends its expertise and training opportunities to young individuals aspiring to be a part of aviation industry.
The College is engaged in training and development of internal staff on regulatory, system and soft skills training. While being the training solution provider for staff of SriLankan Airlines, it has earned a reputation as a pioneer in aviation trainingwhich transforms ambitious young individuals into aviation professionals, contributing towards development of the Aviation, Travel and Tourism industriesthroughout the Asia-Pacific region.
It is one of the few aviation training institutes in the world which is accredited by many international organizations and national regulatory bodies including the Civil Aviation Authorities of Sri Lanka, Maldives and Pakistan, International Air Transport Association (IATA), European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and theTRAINAIR PLUS programme of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
SriLankan Technical Training, the technical training arm of SriLankan Aviation College,is amongst a handful of institutions in Asia which have been granted one of the highest industrial standards, EASA Part 147 approval for Aircraft Maintenance Training. Apart from being approved by EASA, the training institute is also approved by the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka, Maldives Civil Aviation Authority and Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority.
SriLankan Technical Training serves,SriLankan Airlines and other airlines in the region as well as individuals pursuing careers in Aircraft Maintenance and Engineering.
The faculty, apart from theoretical expertise, also draws its strengths from SriLankan Engineering for its practical training, the maintenance arm of the national carrier which has set the benchmark in Aircraft Maintenance for over three decades with its highly qualified and experienced staff using state-of-the-art technology.
The courses offered by the faculty range from Basic Aircraft Maintenance training (B1.1- Mechanical and B2 – Avionics) to Aircraft Maintenance specialized training courses including Type training courses for AIBUS A330 (RR Trent 700) and AIRBUS A320 Family type training courses, Aviation Legislation, Human Factors in Aircraft Maintenance and Fuel Tank Safety.Our experienced lecture panel, equipped with first-hand aviation industry knowledge, ensures that graduates enter employment with strong skills and a thorough understanding of aviation quality, safety and environmental standards. All courses are designed with a balanced focus between knowledge, skills, values and experience.
We are committed to deliver quality, flexibility and cost-effective accredited training to individuals and corporates.The Category B1.1 and category B2 Aircraft Maintenance coursesare designed as per the EASA Part 66 basic training requirements. B1.1 – Mechanical stream will be predominantly associated with aircraft engines,aircraft structure, aircraft systems such as Air-conditioning System, Hydraulic Power, Landing gear, Doors, etc. essentially associating with Mechanical aspects of the aircraft.B2 – Avionic stream will be predominantly associated with Electrical Power Systems, Aircraft Navigational and Instrument Systems, Communication etc. associating with Electrical, Instruments, and Radio equipment of the Aircraft. The students will complete their classroom training in the state of the art training facility and follow on-the-job training at actual Aircraft Maintenance environment.
Once participants havecompleted the training, and after completing Two years’ experience, in an approved EASA 145 Aircraft Maintenance Organization, the candidate will be able to obtain Basic License from a European Union (EU) Country. For those who wish to further their studies in the field of Aircraft Maintenance SLAC offers BEng (Hons) in Aircraft Engineering in collaboration with Kingston University,United Kingdom. It is a two year part-time study programme and the only Aircraft Engineering degree which can be completed in Sri Lanka whilst being employed.
