CSSL Launches GCE O/L and A/L ICT Online Revision Courses

The Computer Society of Sri Lanka ( CSSL) has initiated a program to conduct on-line courses for GCE O/L and A/L students as part of its 2021 plan to promote GCE OL and GCE AL ICT subject amongst school children. Highlight of the CSSL program is to extend its on-line classes free of charge to students in urban or rural schools without ICT teachers. CSSL will accommodate all students from those schools without ICT teachers to participate in CSSL on-line classes free of Charge.
O/L classes will commenced on July1,, 2021, from 2.00 p.m. to 4.00 p.m. (In English Medium)
A/L Classes will commenced on July 2, 2021, from 2.00 p.m. to 4.00 p.m. (In English Medium)
The resource person is Ms. Sandani Hettiarachchi, who is a senior ICT teacher from the Piliyandala Zonal Education Office and she is well experienced in teaching ICT in St. Johns College and in Gurugedara for A/L and O/L ICT students. CSSL Ex-co Member and Treasurer Heshan Karunaratne spearheads the CSSL ICT School Education Program.
Launching the CSSL AL ICT courses for school children, CSSL President Damith Hettihewa said “The objective of this program is to encourage more and more rural students to take up ICT subject at O/L and A/L exams. The ICT industry in Sri Lanka has the potential to be the number one foreign exchange earning industry in the era of Industry 4.0. CSSL believes it is a unique opportunity to achieve economic prosperity by attracting more rural youth to ICT industry and promoting innovations and entrepreneurship. CSSL has several initiatives to promote innovation and entrepreneurship amongst undergraduate and student community.
The Computer Society of Sri Lanka ( which was established in 1976 is the apex body representing Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Professionals in Sri Lanka.
The CSSL is also a member of the South East Asia Regional Computer Confederation (SEARCC) and International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP). CSSL is a provisional signatory to the Seoul Accord, an internationally acclaimed degree accreditation program through which CSSL brings international standards on ICT related degrees to Sri Lanka.
