Horizon Campus CEO Mr. Ajitha Wanasinghe said, “ many students today are unable to get into State universities due to the lack of a few marks and spend years trying to enter state universities .This hampers and delays their entrance into industry and in pursuing their career goals. There are several models for higher education financing in the world and this loan scheme is designed by benchmarking on the best models that have been used globally. The loan scheme is primarily aimed at easing the financial burden of students and improving the loan allocation criteria to capture the neediest cases, giving them the opportunity of having world-class education at an affordable cost. Therefore, the ethos of the scheme is to “study free – pay later”. As such, students can continue their studies without putting too much monetary burden on their families.Keeping in view the challenging scenario of global education, this scheme provides abundant opportunities to local students and promotes educational development both in quantitative and qualitative terms and removes disparities and equalises educational opportunities for students of every income group in the country.”
